Norgrove Building Supplies Ltd-Acquisition Finance Loan
An experienced member of the building and construction industry, Jack Norgrove identified the promise in a plumbing and drainage suppliers in Kidderminster, and put a proposal together to buy it out. When the bank he was talking to declined the deal due to insufficient security, he went looking elsewhere.
Jack’s accountants recommended that he spoke to Ian Clark at Rookery Business Finance, a local business finance consultants with over 30 years’ experience, who advises on a range of funding options. Ian explains: “Having looked at the background papers, it was clear that there would not be enough security for any of the high street banks to consider this proposal; what this opportunity needed was a funder with a more flexible approach for SMEs.”
Ian spoke to ESF Capital, major shareholder in ThinCats and Sponsor to the platform, to discuss accessing a peer-to-peer loan. He was able to demonstrate that it was a very solid business with a good track record, and described Jack Norgrove as someone with, “the vision, drive and expertise to grow this business to the next level.” ESF and ThinCats concurred, and the loan was listed and filled on schedule, allowing Norgrove Building Supplies Ltd to officially purchase the business, and immediately start implementing the development strategy.
Jack details the plans: “We are introducing new stock and widening the range sold by the business to enable the company to supply to all aspects of the building industry. Norgrove Building Supplies will provide building materials for both trade and public markets, and will be selling a larger range of items to existing customers. We are also looking to develop an online presence, with click and collect, taking us into another new revenue stream.”
Summarising the experience, Ian says: “ESF and ThinCats have been very much part of this journey, and without this loan the journey would not have begun.”

Hart Materials Ltd
Ian Clark arranged finance for the purchase of a warehouse/office building for my Company Hart Materials Limited. The service we received was efficient, quick and properly monitored by him until the money was in our bank account. Ian is straightforward to deal with for people without expertise in finance – you do not get bombarded by unintelligible phrases and acronyms. Above all, I judge him as completely honest.
If and when a similar requirement arises I shall be dealing with Ian.
